ITINERARY - AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND: here is the full itinerary for a tour of these 2 countries.

The budget is completely flexible and will depend on what you want to do. Here it’s just an example of expenses I’ve made during my trip, and which you can adapt to the trip you are actually planning.

Australia and New Zealand - expenses of a 2 week trip

I am now going to explain the expenses item by item:

Plane tickets
It is clearly one aspect of the budget that can vary a lot. It mostly depends, of course, on the month of the year you’ve chosen to go on your trip. For my example, I had chosen to make a stopover of several days in Bangkok on both ways, in order to have a break during this long flight.

Hotels
Again, it will depend on the choices you make in terms of accommodation. Back then, I had done my research mostly online on booking websites. I’m always looking for hotels located close to subway and bus stations, and not too far from sightseeing places. And of course, I was trying to find decent but cheap places.

Transportations
This category is only about transportations (excluding airplanes) that allowed me to move from town to town.

Sightseeings
In Australia and New Zealand, major tourist sights are completely free, so you’ll save a lot of money. In addition, except for Sydney where you’ll have to get a card in order to use public transport, you won’t need to do so in the other cities because they are totally explorable on foot. And in Melbourne, the tram is free in the city centre.

Others expenses
About meals and shopping, once again, the budget will depend on whether you choose to eat out or on the go. And it will also depend on how many souvenirs you want to bring back home.
